Category: !CL Candidates
I decided to post my CL Application details. If you have any questions please ask! Good luck to all of the candidates.
Why are you interested in being a community leader?:
I want to be recognized as a person who can help people out with there problems on this site and have more responsibilities as a Zone BBS member.
What previous experience have you had with The Zone BBS?:
I have socialized with the new members of the site and have helped them understand how to navigate and use the features of the site through answering questions, or getting to know them. There is so much more I could include here as I have been a member of this site for almost six years. When I first joined the site, I was a little immature, but now I am 21 years old in college and have plenty more responsabilities then I did ssix years ago.
What previous computer experience do you have? How comfortable are you with use of websites and other Internet applications?:
I use a laptop to access the Zone BBS. It is also my main computer I use for school work. Through my experience at college, I have been on plenty of different websites and have been exposed to plenty of different computer programs. In college, I am in the Computer Science and Engineering Technology major in my Junior year. In this major, I have had classes where I have learned Java and some C++. I have self taught myself HTML, JavaScript, and PHP with MySQL and am taking a class this semestaer that involves those languages. Thus far, I have a 100% in the class and am planning on getting an A by the end of the semester.
Much of your job as community leader is dealing with users' questions. What previous experience have you had that would help you in this area?:
I have had questions show up in the public chat before such as "How do you input your favorite TV shows on your profile?" or "How do you make your Zone BBS phone pin?" and have private messaged the person indivisually to help them with their question and to complete what they were trying to do to the best of my knowledge and abilities.
What would you do in a situation where you are asked a question and are unsure of the answer?:
If a user asked me a question and I did not know the answer to it, I would say that I was sorry, and did not know the answer to that question. I would try to answer the question to the best of my abilities, but if I really do not know the answer, I would either ask another stafff member the question if they were available, or ask the user to submit and email to the Zone BBS Admins. I would also provide the user with directions to the knowledge base articles and the Zone BBS Q&A board to see if their question could be answered there.
As community leader, you have access to information which users and premium members do not. (Note that you do not have access to passwords, billing information, or the ability to change points.) What do you feel are appropriate and inappropriate uses of this information?:
I feel an appropriate use of this information would be to not disclude information that is not available for users have access to. The community leader is given that information for a reason to do a job, and as long as they continue to do that job without discluding the personal information, I feel that would be an appropriate use of it. An inappropriate use of the information would be publicly announcing or making information that is suppose to remain private publicly available.
As community leader, you have the ability to edit and delete board posts and entire topics. What are situations in which it would be appropriate or inappropriate to use these abilities?:
With the boards, I have not seen many board topics or board posts that have been deleted. I have seen board posts that have been moved from one topic to another. This would be an appropriate use of these abilities because maybe the original poster posted the topic in the wrong catigory. If there is a board post that violates the terms of service or contains personal information then it should be deleted and reported to the admins. An inappropriate use to these abilities would be deleting a particular user's posts just because you want to or you dislike the user. The ability to delete or move boards or topics should be treated with respect and not played around with like a toy.
When is it appropriate to disable a user's account?:
A users account should be disabled when the user has done something that has violated the terms of service. The user should have read the terms of service prior to joining the site so they should have an idea of what is appropriate and inappropriate. I also think the user should receive a warning before disabling, but depending on the situation and the term that the user violated, it could be appropriate for a temperary or perminent ban.
How much time per week can you commit to being a community leader?:
I can commit as much time that is requested of me to be a comunity leader. I am a college student, and can have a lot of homework at times, but I am always looking for a study break. Facebook and The Zone BBS are usually my sites for study breaks or places to hang out. I will commit to being a Comunity Leader as long as I am aloud to be one.
How would you deal with conflicts of interest such as being close friends with someone on The Zone and having to do something against your friend's wishes, or a situation where your friend tried to sway your decision?:
If there was a conflict on The Zone BBS that involved a friend of mind and another user, I would take friendships aside and look at the situation as if the users were neither my friend. That way both users would be on the same level and an appropriate action could be taken.
What do you feel sets you apart from other applicants?:
I feel that my strong computer abilities and programming abilities sets me apart from the other applicants. I am also friendly and get along with almost anyone once I get to know them.
What other information would you like to tell us? You must write something. Interests? Favorite fruit?:
I am a good person once you get to know me, but when a situation arises, I will do what it takes to get the job done.
